A - Opaque brown, light tan head, very minimal without lacing. Not a pretty beer, but nothing offensive.
S - Roasted malts come through, burnt sugars.
T - This is the highlight. I like sweet beers, and this is certainly that. In addition, you get a nuttiness along with the sugar and caramel. There is a bit of bitterness in the close, a hint of bittersweet chocolate as well, and these counterpoints are enough to mitigate the potential for cloying malty sweetness. It is a line this beer dances up to but does not cross.
M - Heavy, as you'd expect. The slight bitterness of the close is the only relief, because the carbonation is minimal. It may have been in the initial pour, but even on the night I bought it, there was only a mild exhalation when I opened it up.
O - This is not a balanced beer, but it is one I enjoy. There is a lot of malt, but sometimes I like a heavy sticky mess, and honestly, if you can't get down in the malt with a Wee Heavy, when can you? This is a high impact beer, but it remains quite drinkable because there is a bit of bite in the background. But between drinks, it is the sweet malt that lingers.

poured cold from a 3-week old growler a deep dark brown to a dogfish head signature glass with a wisp of a short lasting head leaving no lace.
aroma of candied almonds and toffee
big and sweet way up front, hard candy, butterscotch, brown sugars, and a bit of nuttiness.
big bodied, low carbonation - though its likely a function of not quite a full fill, leaving a bit too much air space in the neck of the growler.
overall, a good wee heavy and had i opened it sooner, i think it would have been even better.

Poured a very nice bright copper color with some nice head and nice lacing. Hugely deep scent, extremely malty in the nose, very sweet. Huge sweet taste, as well; hints of caramel and a little bit of hops at the end, but everything was overwhelmed by the maltiness (not even my Scotch ales from Scotland have been so overwhelmingly sweet). It didn't have a bad flavor in it, just could've been toned down some. Wend down alright, if somewhat thick.
