Probably the only beer store i've ever walked into barefoot.
What looks like a rundown bodega from outside is more of a tiny little 24-hour market inside.
The chalkboard outside cryptically read "Don't forget Superman, Folly loves you."
It's a small deli/market, but they have a good small beer selection, maybe 65-75 beers in all. The Coast 32/50 was about 3-4 days old, which was nice. A few other local options, plus a growler station with 6 beers at the deli counter. Extra points for that. Beer coolers are to the left along the wall and the growler station is to the right when you walk in.
Tourists and locals alike shopping here. Didn't ask for help and wasn't offered. I'd imagine they'd have some recommendations at the growler station, but we stuck with as many 32/50 cans as we could carry. It did have something of a cozy vibe once inside, but from the outside it looked like a bodega shack. Not a bad stop, and certainly convenient if you're local or staying on Folly Beach. No pop outs.

As a Folly native, I feel that bert's has not gotten its fair share of praise on beer advocate as of yet. I have moved from South Carolina to continue my education down south, but every time I make it back home to visit my Folks I make it my mission to fill up my "Bert's" growler with something fresh. This place is pretty great, and has that strange down-home feel that many bar and restaurant owners strive for in-vein. Take a trip to Bert's and feel the environment of a true beach market, and even if Im wearing shoes I leave them in my car when I visit the store.

Q: While the beer section is dominated by macros, there are some high quality beers to be had. A solid group of beers.
S: I actually never engaged the clerk who was working for any kind of help.
S: A decent selection of craft beer stalwarts: Avery, Allagash, Stone, St. Sebastiaan. Of course, the inventory was dominated by the typical Bud-Coors-Miller stock of beers. Nothing terribly unusual as micro brews go, but still a nice little selection.
V: The craft beers were in general very reasonably priced.
Essentially, Bert's is just a convenience store that happens to have some microbrewed beers. It's the sort of place if I lived on Folly Beach I might pick up a beer in a pinch.
