2022 vintage, blended 3/1/22
This is only my third beer from Jester King, but I’ve been hyped on trying all their stuff that I possibly can. This was another Tavour pick, and a reasonably priced (for the brewery and style) one at that. This is a fairly straightforward Gueuze-inspired Wild Ale, so I’m excited to see their pure expression of wild fermentation. Let’s get into it
Pours a cloudy pale gold with a finger of soapy white head that immediately fades to nothing and leaves no lacing
I think funky but gentle is the best description of the nose on this guy, it’s really nice. I’m picking up on aromas of lemon zest, apple skin, earthy wheat, petrichor, white wine vinegar, wildflower honey, jammy apricot, raw grain, and white pepper
It’s not as bright in taste as the aroma would lead you to believe, but it’s still very good. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting lemon juice, tannic white wine, earthy wheat, raw grain, crabapple, wet hay, dry oak, and light orange zest. The swallow brings notes of lemon zest, dry oak, crabapple, earthy wheat, white wine vinegar, raw grain, and wildflower honey
A light medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a sharp beer. Finishes bone dry and refreshing
A damn good Americanized Gueuze. This brewery is truly awesome
