On tap at The Beer Company. This is an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in a Jack barrel.
A: Dark brown bordering on black. A small layer of bubbles is evident from the force of the draft pour.
S: Blend of dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and whiskey. Roasted grains meld with licorice and molasses. There's a touch of honey-like sweetness as well as brown sugar. Expressive barrel profile.
T: Bittersweet dark chocolate, brown sugar, roasted grains, molasses, and a little licorice. Pervasive whiskey presence with prune and raisin. Alcohol is well hidden in the whiskey fudge finish.
M: Full body with low carbonation. The mouthfeel is sticky, smooth, and chewy with warming on the palate.
Overall: Probably my favorite of the night after Manhattan Project. A nice barrel forward Imperial Stout. I think more carbonation would have taken this up a notch.
