Growler pour for Best Damn Night Of The Barrels held at The Beer Company in San Diego, CA.

Aged in Templeton Rye Whiskey barrels. Served with a splash of the whiskey on top of the beer.

Pours a murky reddish-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, caramel, and rye whiskey. Taste is much the same with an intense alcohol kick on the finish. There is a mild amount of woody bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer but it's hot and boozy with the way they presented it at the event.
