Bottle purchased at Crossroads Brewing Company in Athens, NY.

This one's actually an American Barleywine, right?

Pours a very dark amber-brown, with a one inch head, and a good amount of lacing. Certainly looks like a barleywine.

This one reminds me of Maharaja and other intensely malty DIPAs- Huge amounts of caramel malt and toasted bread, with a sweet syrupy alcohol flavor, and honestly- some bubblegum like flavors that I wouldn't expect. On the hops side- they are strong- we get some candied pineapple, pine, and grapefruit. Both the hops and the malt battle for supremacy here, and I'm not entirely sure which ones wins out in terms on intensity. Just a really strongly flavored beer here.

Medium bodied, with a really sweet and syrupy mouthfeel, and a lingering bitterness. A medium amount of carbonation is present.

As a DIPA, this is slightly disappointing, but as a barleywine, it's pretty tasty.

On-tap at the brewery into a 12oz glass...

Pertinent info:

A: it's a bit darker than outrage, somewhere between amber and ruby maybe.

S: not a lot of hop, more malt comes through

T: Immediate hop bitterness and malt fighting it out

M: good, there's enough body here. I was worried (just had the Outrage)

Overall: this is a good beer. I'd definitely have another if I didn't have to drive. Everything else here has felt like a 1-note beer where the first taste is the same as the last. This wanders through some malt and hop and then to malt and back to hop on the tongue.

On tap at Birdsall House in Peekskill, NY as part of their NYS/Crossroads event.

This is a large and agressive DIPA, flavorful, complex and tasty.

Pours darker almond amber, typical tan head, collar and respectable lacing.

I got a load of grainy and citric hops from the sniff.

Full bodied and again loaded with flavor, hops and more hops...the bitter beer face my wife made said it all..this is loaded with hoppy goodness....full flavor, full boddid, full hoppyness. Well done...hop lovers seek this one out and enjoy..went well with some aged cheddar...
