Robust malt character and subtle sweetness round out this surprisingly drinkable strong lager. Paul Bunyan's favorite beer....probably.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured a nearly opaque dark amber with tan head that is leaving some lace. The scent had malt and earthern notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet caramel malt base with peat and grain presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Taproom only, I had it when it first went on tap. It was Ok, but I thought this one might improve with age. And it did. I stopped at the taproom again on 9/30/2023.
The strong point of this beer now is the flavor.
Flavor is a little Roast. Next a little caramel and dark fruit. The finish has plenty of spice like pumpernickel with a micro hint of clove/anise. Not really all that sweet overall and has bitter elements. Almost a 4.25 for flavor.
Somewhat thin body/mouth feel.
I will give it 3.91/5 overall
