Saddleback Ale is a crisp light all malt beer with roots from an Eastern European lager. The Czech hops balance the pale malt, revealing balance and natural drinkability. Saddleback Ale is the perfect session beer.

Smells great, malty and caramelish. First sip is basically the same, a nuclear bomb of bready caramelish malts. Sweetness settles down and it dries up a bit with additional sips, and some vaguely lemony, very slightly astringent hops come out. Oddly I can sort of feel and taste the alcohol, even though it's barely there (3.9%?!?!). Nice relaxed, unpretentious session ale. It basically accomplishes what cheap AALs do, except better, so it's up to you if that's worth it or not.

Tried a pour from their Portland location. Pour ad a bit of a head that left some foam on the side of the glass. Coloration was quite pale straw yellow that was pretty opaque. Smell was pretty clean, as expected with malty notes coming across. Taste was pleasant with malt throughout that lingers as more subdued than expected from the smell. Feel was considerably fuller than expected for something with such a low ABV. Found it enjoyable and could see myself enjoying it during a baseball game.

Had on draft at Sebago Brewing Co. in Scarborough, ME.
L: Very light, dull yellow with mild carbonation.
S: Boiled corn.
T: Up front is semi-dry, faint yeast. Finishes like an American adjunct lager.
F: Best part of the beer. Has good body for 3.9%.
O: This is at best a summertime beer, otherwise try their Lake Trout stout on nitro; it is a Guinness killer.

Underwhelming ale, not nearly as good as other offerings by Sebago
