The Hoppy Homunculus The Hoppy Homunculus (6.3% ABV, 55 IBUs) is a medium-bodied American IPA. Originally conceived as a test batch to experiment with new hop varieties, this beer became a favorite among the brewery staff. After several revisions, our brewers perfected the hop blend which includes Centennial, Cascade, and Citra hops.

The Hoppy Homunculus boasts an assertive aroma of tangerine and grapefruit, with a slight minty finish. The citrusy hop flavor blends flawlessly with a subtle caramel sweetness, producing a well-balanced, drinkable IPA. The Hoppy Homunculus pairs well with spicy Asian foods and the beautiful Maine summer.

Had on draft at the new Portland location. The bartender seemed knowledgable of the beer and stated that this was a single batch offering.

A: Unfiltered hazy Orange color similar to wet hay. Had loads of lacing from top to bottom.

S: Citrus bomb on the nose. Strong hops and a little sweetness. Slight malt but almost unnoticable.

T: As indicated in the nose... Lots of citrus and grapefruit with a dry finish.

M: Medium body with the carbonation providing alot of small prickly bubbles which detracts a little from the experience in my opinion.

O: A very tasty IPA the I would defiantly try again. As stated in previous reviews it is very reminiscent of the Frys Leap with a little additional fresh hop flavor.

Served in a tulip shared with my wife golden amber with a nice head to start.

The aroma is wonderful fruity citrus smooth with hints of malt.

The taste matches the aroma starts fruity with citrus then carbonation comes in and dissipates to becomes dry with a hint of malt and slight bitter. Very nice

This is like a more fruity fresh Fyes Leap

Labeled as The Hoppy Homunculus. Served in a tulip at the Scarborough brewpub. The color is hazy orange with a half-inch head. Lots of sticky lacing left behind.

The aroma is full of citrus with just a hint of malt sweetness.

The taste starts out with nice grainy sweetness followed by grapefruit rind. The finish is smooth and bitter

The body is medium and the mouthfeel is smooth and creamy.

Great stuff but the flavor procile doesn't seem radically different from Frye's Leap.

From notes at the "End of an Era" event at Middle St. location.

Orange hued and hazy, no head, light hop nose. Clean clear fresh, pure and easy drinking. Nice hop oil mouthfeel, bitterness lingers slightly to a dry finish. A delicious, supremely easy drinking IPA. FRESH!
