Trekker Pale Ale was brewed at Brewing For A Cause, a fundraiser for the Trek Across Maine - a 3-day, 180 mile bike ride in support of the mission of the American Lung Association. This beer was our fastest selling Single Batch Series beer in 2011 and we've brewed a double batch this year for all our thirsty guests! Trekker Pale Ale (6.1% ABV) is a classic American pale ale. It is light bronze in color, with a moderate malt character up front that gives way to an increasing hop aroma with a clean dry finish.

This is listed as retired, but I'm drinking one on tap today at the Sebago in Portland, Maine. Barman says it's an annual, timed with the event, so look for it early summer. Lovely pale ale for those of us who like IPAs... very aggressive hops, bitter, and 6+ abv.

Into a nonic pint glass:
A: hazy orange body leaves a large one finger white head that lasts a good full minute in my nonic. No noticeable carbonation is seen rising through this very hazy body. Minimal lacing is left.
S: very spicy hops coming through powerfully. Some light citrus comes through as the beer warms.
T: centers around the spicy hops and the citrus comes in slightly sweet
M: medium with some slight tickles of carbonation on my tongue. Its pretty smooth and for the most part pretty drinkable.
O: this was a good beer that I would have again. I was a bit surprised for an APA that had the strong hops in the smell, but I still liked it.

A-Pours a dull orange color. Light head. A thin layer of tinted white foam. Body is very murky. Looks like its got some flavor behind it.
S-Not an explosive nose but it is hop forward. Citrusy and sweet bread. Enjoyable balance between sweetness and hop bite.
T-A nice, hop-stressed APA. I have had APAs with clearly more intensity, but this beer boasts some flavorful hop notes. Citrusy and grassy with a nice kick of bitterness. There is plenty of balance with caramel and cracker maltiness.
M-Medium to light body. Mellow carbonation. Easy drinking and smooth. Light yet lasting bitterness.
O/D-This beer was plenty enjoyable. Hoppy enough to keep me wanting more. A pleasant, balanced APA with some decent hoppiness.

Pours a two finger cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Clear amber color with a ton of floaties. Pine hops nose. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor is piney hops and some caramel. $4.30 for a 22oz bottle from Tully's Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

Poured from a bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect pint.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber color with a finger and a half of off white head. Decent retention with a good sized layer left.
Smell: Citrus peel hops hit the nose up front with some herbal notes. Mildly sweet malt in the background.
Taste: As in the smell, citrus hop bitterness up front. Mildly sweet malt backbone with some fruity notes in there as well. Not bad at all.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, fluffy carbonation, the finish is a bit dry.
Overall: Not a bad pale ale. The hops could have been balanced out a little bit better, but I would have another.

Beautiful golden pale amber ale with a very large head that lingers
The aroma sweet malts with hints of citrus and grass hops very pleasent.
The taste is sweet and creamy malts hints of biscuit and caramel. The hops enter and are fruity and floral and linger to create a nice bitter

Smell has a grassy wet hop aroma and hints of fruit, picking up some other odd aromas though that's more in line with vegetables, picking up a touch of onion actually, reminds me of Gubna in a way which is not a good thing.

T: Same as the smell, but it definitely leans towards the malty side for a pale ale. Hops add a nice touch, but don't quite balance the big malty sweetness
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Fairly slick going down
O: Definitely a solid APA, but I'd like some more hops. It might be the fact that this is another one-off (all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed, including this one) and is 2 months old, but still. I also like the fact that this beer is trying to raise awareness for the Trek Across Maine, which is a charity event

Taste sweet malts, caramel, copper toasty malts, almost creamy, light bitter sweet candy hops and light floral grassy earthy hops. Finishes drier with light hops and malts lingering.
Mouth is med bodied, dec carb.
Overall better than I expected, a bit on the malty side and less on hops, but not a bad beer.

In a pint glass the beer was gold in color with a medium-sized white head.
Nice sweet malt aroma. Floral/outdoors scent. A little bit of citrus.
More of a piney hops taste. Some grapefruit. Good malt background.
Light-bodied, fairly crisp.

The aroma is a nice balance of citrus rind and bready malt. This isn't as aromatic as an IPA or a super dry-hopped pale ale, but it is inviting.
The taste is clean and crisp with a real nice citrus hop finish. This drinks dry and delicious.
This is light to medium bodied and the carbonation isn't particularly heavy.
