A 330ml bottle with a BB of May 2015. Picked up a while back from Trembling Madness in York. Described on the label as a ginger ale with a subtle heat.
A: Poured into a cervoise. Bottle conditioned. A hazy golden hue with some chunky sediment and good carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of fruity ale yeast with hints of ginger, spice, mild grainy malt and faint stewed leaves. Possesses a slight whiff of homebrew. OK.
T: Tastes of spicy ginger with a bit of a kick. Faint notes of fruity ale yeast, light grain and stewed leaves are discernible. Little bitterness to speak of. The spicy heat dominates the otherwise subtle flavour and lingers after swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and decidedly tingly, with prickly carbonation and considerable ginger heat on the palate. Somewhat astringent, followed by an aftertaste of spicy ginger, earthy yeast and stewed leaves/herbs.
O: So-so; alright but rather one-dimensional. Mostly you just get ginger. Looks OK, while the aroma is quite subdued and the flavour is pretty spicy. Faint yeast and herbal hints in the background. Body is decent enough. It's not going to become a favourite of mine, but if you like ginger you might want to give it a whirl.
