BBE: July 15, 2017
from bottle purchased from Ales by Mail
Look: White head, bright yellow, clear (had it in an opaque mug so only saw it from the pour)
Smell: hops
Feel: medium body, not too astringent
Taste: on the bitter side, grass, hint of sweet malt, not much citrus or other overtones. Seems a bit scant on the aroma hops and maybe bit heavy on the bittering hops. Bottle claims to use NZ hops and I don't know about them (although with the historical significance of English hops, I don't know why they don't go local. Surely would be cheaper and have a smaller carbon footprint?. Not boozy or overly sweet. Malts: sweet; hops grassy and spicy. no esters, no pin. more depth than typical english ales
Solid. One of the better double IPAs I've had in the UK, but I've had better in the states. I think Kernel pulls out the aroma better but this definitely does the job.
