Appearance (Look)
Clear, straw coloured. cream coloured head
Smell
very malty. little of anything else. smells sweet. A tiny bit of dimethysulfide maybe (I think I can smell a faint Swern)
Taste = 40%
sweet. malty. some bittering hops hardly any aromatics. Some alcohol burn. dryer than other barley wines I've had.
Mouthfeel (Feel) = 10%
thick. slippery
Overall = 20%
true to style. yes this is a barley wine. a bit dryer yet more heavily bodied than some barley wines I've had (and preferred). This isn't bad but I was hoping to be blow away. The both the malt and hop profiles don't have much going on as far as I can tell.
