Gravity halfpint at the Euston Tap.
A: Clear medium amber body under a thin ecru head that quickly dissipates into clumpy wisps and leaves ok lace. Not bad.
S: Huh. This just came on, and yet I'm getting distinct notes of spoiled fruit on top of herbal hops and some nutty malt. Troubling, but not quite offensive.
T: Ok, now it's interesting: intensely nutty, slightly smoky malt balanced with bitter herbal, earthy hops. Long, smoky finish. Crazy, but not all that appealing.
M: Nice medium body with creamy carbonation. Excellent.
O: I had to look this one up on the brewery website to find its ABV upon adding it, and they describe it as having notes of asparagus and celery. Perhaps that explains some of the unpleasant organic notes in the nose, or perhaps they're just kidding. Either way it's a fascinating ale, but not one I'm eager to drink again.
Cheers!
