L- Mid amber, clear, pours with a 2mm white head.
S- Mild, almost a tiny hint of apple?
T- Initially quite malty, then a bitter little hoppy twist arises into the finish. Once you've registered the hoppy-lick across your palate it seems to linger thereafter.
F- It has some malty richness to it, and yet a quite hoppy-dry side in parallel. I'm repeating that point as IME it's very unusual finding both together like this in a beer.
O- I've yet to read the back lable so currently don't know how this was brewed. The front lable refers to 'Christmas IPA' and maybe that's because it's a IPA that's maltier/richer than usual and hence 'festive'? I'm not a born IPA fan, some seem just too austere/dry to me; so this one works much better. I like it, it's all trad elements (zero lychee, manadarin etc other bonkers aspects), overall pretty dry but with a solid feel for a 5%. A good Xmas beer for trad IPA fans? I'd happily drink this beer again.
Bought from TremblingMadness/York for home delivery to London.
