Colorado, United States

Style: American Wild Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.60%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Luminoso, our 5.6% sour blonde, was aged in a variety of barrels collectively for two years and was then blended with a lighter, refreshing kettle sour. The range of barrels and the addition of brettanomyces yeast contribute wild characteristics, while a bright tartness keeps you coming back, sip after sip. Notes of sour lemon and wild brettanomyces complexity.

Poured from 750ml bottle into glass. Label is marked 'Bottled On Thursday February 16th 2017'.
First pour was all white foam. Cloudy, straw colored body (when fluffy head collapses). The head collapse leaves strings of lacing on the glass, but no lacing is left behind with each sip.
Aromas of lemon sour and brett funk, with a little oak barrel. Quite enticing.
Taste is a version of the smell but different. Much more funk than sour in the taste, and tannic dry.
High in carbonation on the mouth feel, thin in character. Not real sour but more of a leather and horse blanket funk.
The carbonation carries the funk forward, but if the beer is left to warm in the mouth, more of the sour appears.
A very well blended sour blonde ale, and lots of funk. This is clearly a beer but reminds me of a dry white wine.

another treat from these guys, who seem to be slowly cementing themselves as one of the best in this field, they are well respected everywhere, and for good reason. this one is apparently a mix of barrels housing a wild saison, and its really good. white wine notes abound for me in the nose, aided by a dry fruity brett complexion, some pale wheat malt, and a little tannic acidity. the beer also features a neat aromatic hop profile, maybe not new zealand, but some tropical suggestions are here for sure, and it translates to the taste nicely. its got some pucker to, sweet lemon and maturing lacto or something, its developing a sourness almost more and more with each sip and with each degree it warms up from the tap. it starts by looking all lively and bright, but the head settles back into the haze pretty quick and its not so active on the feel, but the flavor is fantastic. lots of wood, some sharpness, citrus, juicy hops, white wine, cognac or brandy, and a fuller body for the style. fun beer, a need blend or blend of barrels from these guys, a little more process intensive than most of their work, but with equal attention to detail. i really liked this, and could see it ageing well. any bottles of this one or just kegs?

Dominant are lemon and brett yeastiness, the brett on the nose and the lemon in the flavor. An unusual combination, but ultimately tart and refreshing. Not getting any barrel character, though.
