11.2 oz bottle...I see no best before/bottling date info.
Pours darker amber, hazed up, lifts a large and lasting medium khaki cap. Loads of frothy stick left on the glass.
Muted and seemingly malted up nose.
Smooth, complex and intriguing brew..up front I get malty vanilla and honey notes, midway I start to get a tropical juice presence, and in the finish a hint of nutty and tangy yeast comes forward....different...worth a try...glad to see Funk Works beers making there way all the way east...looking forward to more

Basically an American Pale Ale with belgian yeast. The feel is way to hoppy and light to be a true BPA, hop bite is significant though. Appearance is bright orange with lacing and an off white ring. Smell has plenty of hop character, belgian yeast, tons of citrus, and a hint of funk. Taste has some earth, but again is more hop centric than BPA style allows, yeast feels like an afterthought. A fine beer, but caught in between styles.

Brought this to a beer tasting and we wavered over where to place it in order, given that American brewers take liberties with the word 'Belgian'. We settled on after Dogfish Head's Flaming Lips beer, and it was the right choice. Although, it would have been equally at home following Church Street's Major Hemp. Decent head, sticky lacing, impressively robust color. But, if this is a Belgian-style pale ale then I am Mickey Mouse. It is dank, and fittingly for the brewer, funky. A mild hint of Belgian yeast in the background, this beer is about the heavy and Funkwerks brings the heavy.
