"We take our flagship Saison and age it in 2008 American oak chardonnay barrels from Rombauer Vineyards, a winery in Napa. This results in a buttery Saison with aroma's of oak, vanilla, and a flavor with a hint of tangerine."

barrel = chardonnay barrel

a: served in a flared snifter, the beer is a dark golden in color, displaying a slight haze, very nice fluffy white head that keeps a good coating throughout

s: a clean pils and pale malt body supports lots of delicate fruit aroma - apricot, peach, pear, and white grape all play a part, perhaps some sweet citrus, oak aromas are delicate - accompanied by a low buttery aroma that really smooths out what is typically a spicier style, light grassy hop aroma, really like this

m: carbonation is on the light side, giving a smooth, silky feel to the light-medium body, kinda prefer my saisons a little more effervescent most of the time, but can dig this as well

t: the pale/pils malt body holds a nice range of fruits - peach, apricot, sweet pear, white grape, soft yeast flavors, moderately sweet and delicately buttery towards the middle but cleans nicely with a light bitterness to finish, oak pushes through lightly at this point, hop flavors mild and grassy, very smooth and without any sharp edges

o: the barrels seem to have given some nice fruits and really smoothed things out, it's a creative and complimentary tweak to the style, and makes for a great end product

A: dark golden slightly unfiltered color with a thin head.
S: Belgian banana and dark caramel roasted maltiness.
T: alcoholic banana and caramel mixed with a slight lemon an vanilla aftertaste. Quite good to be honest.
M/D: light bodied tight feel. Good drinkability a good session brew just on the line of an everyday beer.
