"An American style IPA with a combination of 6 malts, 4 hop additions and 2 dry hop combinations. This beer has a brilliant amber-copper appearance, and smooth medium bodied mouth feel with out the hop derived astringency associated with higher hop beers."

First had: on tap at their brewpub
Poured a clear, darker amber color with a delicate white head that receded to a thin layer. Pine and citrus hops in the aroma, overlaid on a solid caramel malt base. Taste followed the aroma, no big surprises, good balance of caramel malts and pine/citrus hops, with neither one dominating the other. Higher alcohol barely detectable. Medium body, a bit sticky, but an overall dry finish. A good, drinkable IPA.

Had on-tap at CRBC in Portland, OR. Poured a caramel-amber color with a very thin white head that receded quickly leaving only sticky lacing towards the top of the glass. Had an aroma of sweet, floral hops, grass and earthy funk. I actually found the Hop Heaven IPA to be hoppier, but I enjoyed the overall hop profile of this beer more. I found it to be much more drinkable (probably due to the malts), and it is one of the more enjoyable DIPA's that I have had.
Medium in body with low carbonation. Still leaves a dry finish like most IPAs, but unlike the Hop Heaven IPA, I think I could drink this and have something else afterwards that I could actually taste. Very good, and definitely recommended.

On tap the brewpub the other day.
The GNP IPA has an abv. level that is very similar to the hop heaven IPA. However, that's about the only thing this IPA has in common with its stablemate.
GNP pours copper amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is much more subdued than the HH, though I still pick up some attractive pine, roasty malt and considerable pine. I thought it a bit of an odd aroma profile for a NW IPA, but still attractive. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, and confirmed what I suspected all along. This is very much an English style IPA, something the bartender confirmed. The malt flavor is very forward in this beer, and tends to dominate the dry citrus. There's enough hoppy bitterness to dry this beer out in the finish, but the malt flavor definitely dominates in this beer. Mouthfeel is medium bodied to full, and the alcohol is a bit more noticeable and prominent than I normally like to see.
A decent enough beer, but at least for me, I definitely found the HH to be the more enjoyable of the two IPA's from this brewpub.

Had ontap at their brew pub.
- Dark rather clear copper brown IIPA.. bubble, settling quick off-white head down to some slight lacing... kind of an arrogant bastard of IPA's..
- Big citrus nose, pine.. hop forward and bitter on the nose, while a nice roasted caramel malt is hard hitting as well.. robust.
- Caramel, roasty, smokey, malty.. a very light candied IPA of sorts with a big bitter flare, and some nice pine and citrus notes.
- Medium bodied, well carbonated.. slightly sticky and chewy.
- Overall a fantastic strong ale. They should have dubbed it a strong all, and tweaked the hop heaven a bit yet to be their flagship IIPA. Good, try it!
