Served in a pint glass at Hereford & Hops in Cranberry Township, PA on 11/24/07. This is apparently a limited offering that was the winner of an amateur brewing competition between friends and workers of the brewpub.
A - Poured a dark cola colored body with small, creamy white head that mostly diminished as I drank. Average density with very low carbonation. Virtually no lacing.
S - Mostly caramel and chocolate malts with some nutty tones. Not much at all in the hop department.
T - Moderately sweet initial flavor with caramel and chocolate notes, followed by more sweetness in the finish. Maltiness overpowers the hops quite a bit. Finish is short and sweet.
M - Light to medium body with a fairly watery texture and extremely soft, almost cask-like mouthfeel. Finish is non-abrasive and pleasant.
D - Served at cellar temperature with very little carbonation. Drank almost like a cask ale. A bit too sweet and a tad watery on the palate with a dry, short finish. Kind of like an ESB with less bitterness. I was left wanting a bit more bitterness to balance out the sweet maltiness. Not bad, and certainly pretty easy to drink, but just a little too sweet.
