This porter pours a dark ruby brown with lots of bright ruby highlights. The attractive mocha head holds well but eventually recedes to a frothy cap. A decent amount of lace sticks to the glass.
Lots of coffee and milk chocolate. Very good bitter cocoa becomes more evident as the brew warms a bit. However very sweet overall with a good amount of leafy hops and a nice resonating roastiness. Appetizing for sure.
Again, very sweet with a decent amount of contrasting bitter cocoa and some roasty chocolate. Booze is noticeable as well. Not quite as impressive in flavor as the nose implied but still tasty. A slight metallic character arises as well with lots of leafy hops. Tasty but not as full-flavored as expected.
Moderate/high carbonation and a lighter, fairly crisp mouthfeel. Semidry in the finish with, again, some detectable booze. A bit thin and not as decadent/creamy as I would have expected from the smell. A solid selection for sure though.
