Clean and fancy tasting room... Almost felt like a winery walking in. Dead quiet. Greeted with a straight-faced 'hey'. Beers were solid with a great gose, good hops and a tasty cognac-aged ale. The server loosened up and after some music started playing things lightened up. Ok service, not particularly friendly, good beers.

Friendly, open (a few hours a day, seriously) but oddly sterile feeling to it. Staff is nice, helpful.
Eleven brews on tap including an Evil Twin. Plenty of bottles and six packs to take with.

Late review from the 2015 BA Cake release. Managed to make it into town despite historic flooding. Couple food trucks outside, along with a tap station pouring multiple versions of Cake. Great selection on tap, and really enjoyed the huge digital tap list on the wall. Was able to pick up Gose and Lemon Coconut Weiss Weiss Baby to go, so along with the BA Cake allocation a pretty phenomenal haul. Unbelievable selection across the board, including a bottle menu which included the likes of DB and AB Cake. Interesting that the bottle menu pricing was inflated, but in the end I'd rather see the money go to the brewer who made it than some guy selling on the secondary market.

As I mentioned before there was historic flooding, and I had no car. At the end of the day I wasn't able to get an Uber to come pick me up, so one of the brewers actually dropped me off in a part of town that wasn't flooded. Can't remember his name, but very generous!

I look forward to my next visit!

Went as part of the Brews Cruise tour in SC, so we got the place to ourselves before they opened, which was very cool. A small place and a lot of their offerings were out that day, but got to try some cool stuff like the Gose and Gozu. Very cool barrel room tour, and some bottles for sale of non-normal stuff. Best beer I had in SC, would definitely visit again.

Westbrook has been one of my favorite breweries to date. Their selection is awesome and I like the fact they have harder to get beers on their cellar list. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back.

V: The tasting room has a very simple, clean look. You're given a nice view of the brewery's production area as you sit at the bar, which has about 15 taps and quite a few bottles available. It was surprisingly crowded, but never uncomfortably so.

Q: Westbrook always seems to have a high level quality with its beers. You can also get flights of beer (this definitely helps) or an 8 oz. pour of some the best beers in the area.

S: The bartender was, in general pretty good. Not overly friendly, but he did his job well.

S: There was a good selection to be had here. In addition to having Westbrooks old favorites (Gose, White Thai, IPA), they had several beers from Evil Twin, and one from CIgar City. A nice array of brews.

Love the look of the place. Very nice and clean appeal. New building. Went on a quiet night with only a couple otther customers. Staff was a little slow, but took decent care of us.

The one thing I do not like is the price gouge on some of their older bottles saved for onsight consumption.$50 for MC and updwards of $200 for some of the variants. Come on, this is your own beer in your own house...

Had a fun evening there with friends. Had the Mexican Cake, Marzenbier, and One Claw. Good service, nice atmosphere, and enjoyed a few good beers. I'd love to go for a tour next time.

Great place to hang out with friends. Staff is very knowledgeable about their beers and able to make suggestions based on personal tastes, plus they are very friendly.

Always had great experiences in the tasting room, usually meet other craft beer enthusiasts and often share a bottle with them.

Visiting westbrook was in the short list of itinerary items on a recent trip to Charleston but it turned out to be a disappointment. Despite the website stating tours were available hourly we arrived at 4pm on a sloq thursday and we're told by the bartender he couldn't run a tour until help came in... 20 minutes later when help arrived we were told again we couldn't have a tour. While this was disappointing I understand that there's tips at the bar and no tips on tours.

When we looked at the bottle list I was excited to see that their one notable beer, mexican cake, was on the bottle list but the catch is bottles can't be taken home. Additionaly, they were asking $150 for a barrel aged bottle of Mexican cake. I'm not sure what variants cost but I've never paid anywhere near that for vanilla dark lord at DLD day, which is a superior beer.

All this to say, the brewery is riding a little high in the success of one beer and is getting a little high and mighty. I'd pass on the visit to this place and to be frank, I'd pass on their beers too; the goes is ok but nowhere near the dips Coast brewing down the road is producing.

I'd recommend stopping by Coast or making an extra trip to Charleston beer exchange.

Was disappointed they didn't have any stouts on tap during my visit. Mostly had the regular lineup (Gose, IPA, Thai White) but did have Citrus Ninja Exchange that was pretty good. Got there a little before 5 and it was pretty packed inside. We sat outside at the picnic benches and it was chill.

The flights were much cheaper than most breweries and all of the beers were high quality. The atmosphere was fun and the bartenders were fast. Definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend.

Great brewery. Glad I could visit. Very Modern looking tasting room/brewery. Went on the tour and was able to spend about 20min walking in the back and about 30min looking over the barrel room. Smell of that room was amazing! Seeing Mexican Cake in barrels and all the other brews made my mouth water. Great place to sip on a flight of beer for only $6. however, there was a small tap-list to choose from. Whish it would have been a bit longer and wish I could have walked out with more than 3 locals. Spent about $200 on the trip and can't wait to sit back and sip on some Gose in the heat of FL.

Would have filled up on some Evil twin, but $30 for a growler was a bit pricey. But, $12 for the locals was a nice compromise.

Beautiful cascade with gorgeous brick work in a really great town. The prices were reasonable and selection was incredible. A little more modern and hipster for a 45 year old beer geek but I'll be back again....a lot!

I have been a fan of Westbrook’s beers ever since a 6 pack of White Thai appeared under the Christmas tree from my sister who resides in the Palmetto State. Fast forward 3+ years and many cans and bottles smuggled up to Philly later and a pilgrimage was made.

Pros:
Place is clean, cool and efficiently staffed.
Limited release or brewery-only beers available for onsite consumption. Cool swag for sale. Cans to go and possibly other bottles depending on when you visit.
Tour! We were lucky to be there when they started an informal tour. No questions too geeky, yet they were evasive when asked for release dates on BA MC. However, they let us look around the barrel rooms, explained a lot about the BA technique and let us take pictures of those precious MC barrels.

Cons:
Limited hours, Tuesday - Friday 4-7, Saturday 12-6 so plan accordingly.
Limited or no food, unless there is an event or food truck, but given the limited hours, perhaps you’ll hit them between lunch and dinner anyway.
Aside from the clean and cool setting of the taproom, there are no diversions or attractions to make one want to linger beyond a couple rounds. Not that a place needs TV’s everywhere or a carnival outside, but some tailgate type dude-sports outside may offer a visitor or family some reason to stick around and enjoy the place. That being said, kids will be very bored here, this is a sanctuary to beer, nothing more, nothing less.
A warehouse of equally huge size to the brewery building was being framed when I visited. They said this will be almost exclusively for their barrel program. Hooray to that!

Had a great time a few weeks ago. Place was still popping on a weekday.

They offer flights and full pours of the majority of their beers and some Evil Twin guest taps. We grabbed some of each. Double barrel smoking guns, fresh Shane's and some cool sours. What more can you ask for.

I'm used to Georgia breweries where everyone gets a tour, so I guess it was kind of odd for me to ask for one, but they happily obliged my wants and my wife and I ended up getting a private tour. It was very, very cool of the bar staff.

My only regret was forgetting to grab a growler -- all well -- I'll be back ASP!

One of the most beautiful tasting rooms I've ever been to. The trip is a little ways from Charleston and in a strange industrial area, but it is completely worth it.

Westbrook Brewing - 12/20/2014. Got lucky on a trip to Charleston, and happened to catch them during their fourth anniversary party. The weather was pretty bad, so the turnout wasn't huge. Anyways, I love this place. The beers are absolutely fantastic, the gose, One Claw, and IPA are some of my favorites. Got lucky and got to try Mexican Cake (outstanding, coming from a Hunahpu fan) and Gozu (awesome). Had a flight of beers after the Mexican Cake and was very impressed. They contract brew Evil Twin beers, so got to try a few of those, including Barrel aged Biscotti Break, so good!

You're able to pick up to go beers in cans and bottles from the brewery for a reasonable price. 6 packs were $10, the 4th anniversary beer was $10, and their Dark Helmet and Udderly Stout were $6. Very reasonable considering some breweries charge $12-$20 for some of their limited run beers coughcigarcitycoughcough.

Service was amazing. I picked up a shirt on Saturday, and realized that night the shirt was too small (breweries need a standardized shirt maker, dammit). I emailed the address on the company website to see about a replacement, since I was leaving town before they opened again that Tuesday. I had an email Monday morning telling me to come by the brewery for an exchange. No fuss, just great customer service.

Westbrook is a must if you are in the Charleston area. Hell, even if you're in South Carolina or Georgia.

Visited Westbrook on Sat Sept 27, 2014 - and loved it! Great place, great beers, friendly folk behind the counter! Nice upscale feel. If you're in the Charleston area it's worth a trip over to Mount Pleasant to find it! Very happy to be able to buy their brews here in Birmingham. I'm sipping (and enjoying!) a One Claw right now!

Ohhh man i miss the good ol' days. I went to the brewery for the first time about 3.5 years ago. It is the nicest brewery in charleston. That being said i mostly avoid it now. It's gathered quite a following, which is well deserved. The staff/owners seem not to be so concerned with the tasting room anymore as they are with brewing funky stuff and expanding distribution. So i oblige them and add a few less folks to the tasting room and just grab their beer at the store. Beers get a better rating than 3.75 from me, but for visiting it's just a cluster and can make you regret the trip over there.

Westbrook was a somewhat strange place. Pulling into the reserve parking lot, back in the trees and walking up to the brewery/taproom is like walking into a great Northern Lodge. A huge stone facade greets you as you walk up, everything new, no expense spared. The taproom, at the front of the brewery, was high-ceilinged and oval in space. Off to the left was a wall mounted shelf witht-shirts and glassware. To the right were bathrooms and coolers for to-go sales. The oval bar plopped directly in the middle of the sterile space. The taplist written on the window by the front door.

It was a fairly busy day when I stopped in. There was an after work crowd and some out of towners. Five beers on tap, four of which were canned, the last being a tap only pineapple IPA. The Gose was as great as always. The IPA was good, like usual. White Thai I ddn't have and I foret the other canned offering. The tap only brew was Pina Col-IPA... My mother always told me if I can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.

When we first arrived two people were tending bar, which already seemed to be stretching it. Shortly after one of the bartenders gathered some people up for a tour, leaving a new guy, very overwhelmed with service. The credit card reader on the iPad was acting up and compounding the problem. Service was slow as molasses. As we got up to leave an apology was offered, appreciated.

In a nutshell I'm not near as fond of Westbrook as most people seem to be. The only beer available I couldn't find at every liquor store in town was mediocre to say the least. The service was....slow. The crowd was uppity. The atmosphere sterile and uncomfortable. Take that as you will because like I said, everyone else seems to love the place.

The Westbrook beers are great, but the taproom...not so much. All of the beers they have on tap, except one, are things you can get in cans or bottles at the store. Would be nice to have more taproom only options. Not really that great of an atmosphere either...kind of feels like you're sitting in a lobby somewhere having a beer. The bartender that helped us wasn't too friendly and he didn't seem to have any knowledge of the beers.

new, modern space, almost a 'pop art' feel. seemed small. high ceilings, no intimacy. one of the most interesting brewery spaces i've ever visited & not necessarily in a good way.

very diverse crowd. tables of families w babies, right next to tatted-up hipsters at the bar, young/old, relaxed/proper, this place seemed to have it all. . . . except much of a selection. was able to try their firkin- raisin cinnamon claw, but other than that they only had gose, white thai, and one claw on tap. they did have evil twin guest taps, too. maybe my timing was off, but would have enjoyed something not available in cans.

i love westbrook gose, dont get me wrong. loved picking up a case to enjoy, esp at tybee island. but picking up a case of beer shouldn't be the best part abt visiting a brewery, in my opinion.

Fantastic brewery with a neat taproom. We drove in from NC and stayed in Charleston for the night, dropped by in hopes of getting some Mexican Cake... they had several cases and a six bottle per person limit. Well, I was with my girl so we snagged a case. The people were beer-smart and helpful. We had a blast. Check em out.

Really enjoyed this place. Excellent staff. It was not busy when we were there but I asked and they said it can be very busy. We went on a hot Saturday at 1pm. There was a vet in there selling pretzels and pizza but we did not eat any. It did not look appealing. There were six beer offerings: IPA, RIPA, GOSE, Smoke Wheat, Wit, one Evil Twin/Stillwater collab. I got a very intimate tour and the guide was quite knowledgeable. They tapped a old bay spiced version of the RIPA while we were there that was very good. No porter, stout or other dark options. Bought some cases of Gose for 43 bucks each. Pricing was easy on the wallet. Good music and a TV rotating through pictures of Westbrook events and brewing. Will definitely go back. All beers fit to style and delicious.
