This Maibock is a very sparkling amber with a small white head. It has a salty aroma-- a faint whiff of soy sauce. The palate is watery and gritty. The flavor is like a vegetable garden with black pepper. Is this on purpose? Not sure what the deal is here. The beer sitting next to it was really good and I wrote a shining review for it. The server could only identify it as "the dark wheat" but everyone else at the place denies there is such a thing there. It was also very obviously not a wheat beer... or dark. Bummer, really.

Dark gold body and a thin white collar of bubbles. Sweet, light grain dusty flour aroma -- seems on-style, but very light. Tastes sweet, sweet, sweet -- corn syrup and sugar. Notes of cinnamon. Got that maibock thick bready medium body feel. A swirl of carbonation and sweetness.

Sampled at Barclay's on College.

The beer is a rich orange color. It pours almost without a head. It's crystal clear. There is almost no aroma. The first taste is malt and caramel. No roasted notes. Surprising carbonation. Mild hop bitterness that becomes astringent. Full bodied. Finishes with warmth from the alcohol. Overall not the cleanest lager I've had. I thought it might have been smoother last year, or maybe I'm pickier. The bitterness to malt ratio is still too high.
