Had this on tap at the brewery in Dunsmuir, CA. Served in a pint glass, crystal clear, deep amber color with a half finger of white head that dissipated somewhat quickly.
The aroma was initially bitter, hints of caramel, slight nuttiness, and earthy.
Upon tasting, the aroma was mirrored in the taste but with more slightly sweet, earthy-roasted notes, not too bitter but definitely very little aroma hops were used (if any).
Mouthfeel was above average, but was low on carbonation.
I very much enjoyed this Imperial Red, which was a well-balanced ale of bittering hops and maltiness. Not a typical "West Coast style Imperial Red", but a grown-up, more mature version.

served in a pint glass.
a - came to the table with a thin film of head over a hazy copper liquid. no lacing whatsoever.
smells lightly of dark fruits and caramel.
t - carmel malt up front with a bitter twang of hop character in back. bitterness hangs for quite a while.
m - a firm medium body with adequate carbonation.
o - enjoyable, but nothing exciting. would order again.

Pours a dark and hazy amber color with a very faint white head.
Aromas are potent, quite grainy, cereal like, floral, and very earthy.
Taste is not as strong as the nose suggests. Cereal grain maltiness up front, light sweetness as well as some caramel. Finish is crisp, a touch warm from the high alcohol, earthy and a little bit bitter. Pretty nicely balanced for a big beer.
Mouthfeel is pretty good, it's full, but lacking a bit of carbonation.
Overall, a pretty nice beer. I am imagine that this is 8+% ABV, but it still drinks nicely. This beer could use a little more clean up and body, but it's still nice. I think the lack of carbonation was due to the growler being a bit old.
