Other reviews of this spot are quite dated, and whatever it may have been for craft beer, that was over a decade ago.

Now, you can get some decent craft beer, including Belgian ales and American IPAs, but nothing particularly standout from any decent bottle shop. As with most liquor stores today, there's a heavy emphasis on local offerings, which is nice, but comes at the cost of losing more intriguing offerings from the rest of the country.

You can certainly meet your craft needs here, but it isn't a Mecca. Recommended, but not a must-visit.

I swung through this location on my home to RI (from DC) for Thanksgiving. This was my first visit to the Plainfield store, but saw alot of similarities to their Dayville location. Matt was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable and passionate about his entire line of products. He knew exactly when certain beers were coming in from the distributor, which if you are a local, is a huge help. Compared to the Dayville location, this has a similar selection (maybe slightly larger), but has alot less vintages hidden away.

Now my only decision will be which location I hit on my way through each holiday.

Alot of people on the forums say that Connecticut is a beer wasteland. Well, if you ever visited this store it would definitely change your mind. The selection is second to none here. Plenty of beers from around the world and around the country as well. Lots of locals on the shelf as well. John brings in everything new to this state as quickly as possible. John and crew are very helpful , and courteous. Special orders are no problem. Prices seem to be reasonable and inline with other stores. Some sales here and there. If you are in the area definitely check out this store.

Sometimes I go here and end up talking beer for an hour before I buy anything. Matt is just as passionate about beer as I am.

A great selection of American brews and pretty good on the foreign front. They are always accommodating on beer club night when I buy up a bunch of singles. I recently bought a case of highly sought after Sculpin IPA. I don't think I know of another place that has one bottle of that; never mind a case.

So far, the best place to buy beer in Eastern Connecticut. They've got my business every time I'm in the area.
