Brewed with traditional Saaz hops, this Czech style Pils is exceptionally crisp and clean. Straw in color, with a toasted, bready malt aroma and medium hop bitterness.

I got a late start on NBS (Week 774) & I did not finish up my DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure as planned. 8=( Further, I promised that NBS (Week 775) & now, Week 776, would be dedicated to the wonderful beers sent to me by @jkblr who seems to have a real handle on my drinking habits. CANsparency is key in these things! As a result, I am going to CANcentrate over the next few days on eradicating everything that would have CANbined to form the finale of the DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure. Sit down, strap in & hang on. It's gonna be a wild ride! That last one kind of put me off of Maryland, at least for the moment, so it's time to visit some of the other victims, I mean, honorees. I'd like to give a shout-out to my local, in-person beer trader, @tone77 who dropped this CAN off for me a while back.
From the CAN: "Bohemian Style Pilsner"; "Lager Brewed with Saaz Hops"; "Brewed with traditional Saaz hops, this Czech style Pils is exceptionally crisp and clean. Straw in color. with a toasted, bready malt aroma and medium hop bitterness. 28 IBU [undersigned] D Wolf".
I beCAN by Crack!ing open the vent in order to christen a Pilsner glass that I scored at last month's Attic Treasures rummage sale at nearby Otterbein Church. A slow, gentle C-Line Glug raised two-plus fingers of dense, rocky, foamy, eggshell-white head, that looked like soft-serve vanilla ice cream (!), with excellent retention. Color was Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity & while I would have said that it was darker in shade, I have deferred to the brewery. Nose was more bready & toasty than I would have preferred, but the grassiness of the Saaz hops was unmistakable. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was pleasantly hoppy and bitter with a definite Saaz hop presence along with a soft, toasty maltiness. Mmm. Finish was semi-dry, very refreshing & a good start for my new glass. YMMV.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a rich golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, grassy, slightly sweet. Taste is grassy, hops, a bit of lemons, light malts, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but nothing special.

Great? no good yeah. Loving the Czech style usually leaves me a bit dry as most brewers go for the dry German or the over the top loads of hops US styles. This is more in line with what you would expect out of a Czech brewer. Nice and crisp. Good on a cold or hot day and worth guzzling anytime. Not great but drinkable on any day of the week at any time.

A: A slightly hazy yellow color with a white head, that fades into the brew.
S: Earthy and floral notes, with a touch of spice, and a bit grassy.
T: Herbal to begin, but the straw/grass flavor quickly comes in. Light bread, and an earthy finish.
M: Light on body, moderate to high carbonation.
O: Overall a decent beer, but I'm not in love with the hop profile. Seems like everyone is turning out dynamite Pilseners these days, and sadly this one falls short of the mark for me.
