A rich mocha flavor with a subtle herbal hop presence contributes to our smooth and satisfying German-Style Dark Lager.

Chocolaty black malts jumped out at me. I wonder if this has morphed into a porter style?
Slightly chewy, I was surprised that our waitress declared it to be a favorite of female guests.
It is smooth and drinkable. For this type of "tied house" it may be as stylistically a stretch as one will get.
I'd likely have another when I next visit.

Dark brown in hue, I think, as it was dreadfully dark at the brewpub. It was served with no head, i.e., a stadium pour. Thus I cant comment on head retention. Also there was no subsequent lacing. It was served too cold, the glass as chilly to the touch. Frankly the nose smelled like a freezer with a malty undertone. The nose was apathetic at best. Not inviting. The palate is improved, it tastes like a decent Dunkel lager, the malt imparts a mild chocolate flavor, some slight caramel too, and the hops add something at the finish, a moderate note of herbal-mint. There is also a taste of tap water, not a sensation of watery but of actual water. Flavor is flavor, right? This is a straightforward Dark Lager, standard stuff for a brewpub and it was better (okay) once it warmed up. Medium in body with study carbonation, seems fitting, the mouthfeel was decent and above-average. The abv has to be low. This was a breeze to drink as I zipped through my 16-ounce glass, as it wasnt very challenging to the old tastebuds. It is simple but drinkable.
