Sambrook's Brewery "Speakeasy"
cask via handpump @ The Philharmonic Dining Rooms, Liverpool, UK
Notes: Clear deep gold/amber beneath a short, thin head of white. Limited head retention and lacing - dirty glass? Aroma displays some yeast and spicy phenols from a hot fermentation = big negative. Some grassy hops come through as well. The flavor delivers grain along with apple and pear, and the phenols are not nearly as noticeable. Light-medium to medium in body and smooth. A stiff bitterness balances it and it finishes dry and short lingering with some residual grassy hops.
