A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2015. Picked up a little while back from Trembling Madness in York. A blonde ale brewed in celebration of the 2014 Tour de France; uses French hops and yeast.
A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A golden-amber hue with faint haze and medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of light, grainy malt with hints of grass/hay, faint floral notes, ale yeast and subtle stewed hops. A whisper of diacetyl in the background. Pleasant enough.
T: Tastes of grainy malt with a dry finish. Notes of grass/hay, leafy hops, faint floral hints, grain, ale yeast, mild earthiness and delicate stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with soft carbonation and decent body. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of grassy hops, leafy bitterness, mild grain and yeast.
O: A pleasant blonde ale; thirst-quenching though not mind-blowing. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are balanced but subtle. Grassy hops and ale yeast with a dry character. Body is OK. Shame that the brewer doesn't state which hop varieties are used. Worth sampling if you come across it.
