Pours a thin brown-black, with no head. Looks flat and sad. Smells... smoky, I suppose, with a rubbery/plasticky character that reminds me of a tire shop or a garage. There's a hint of dark chocolate, and a bit of coffee... and that might be it. If I'm getting any chilli at all, it's only in the form of vague dark fruitiness.
Tastes like: a boilermaker, followed by a hangover. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but it really does taste like cheap whiskey dropped into a glass of export stout. Lots of sweet, peaty, tire-yard smoke, hints of espresso and dark chocolate and cherry cola. Also dark rum comes to mind, with the interplay of dark sugars and booze. Chipotle registers as the tiniest tickle on the back of the palate, but that could also be the carbonation, which is a bit zippy and does no favors to the too-thin body. Not impressed.
