Pours a clear amber with fine head.

Smell is fruity and floral with notes of citrus, Pommac and peach. Quite light.

Taste is fruity and floral. Notes of Pommac. caramel and peach. Very sweet finish with a soft bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice, but a bit too sweet IPA.

Oct. 2013: 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.6%. Hops are Cascade and Summit. Golden colour, large to moderate white head. Strong aroma of grassy hops, a hint of apricots. Moderate carbonation in the glass, smooth mouthfeel. The flavour is not too sweet, and distinctly hoppy throughout. Some toffee first, followed by a distinct grapefruity and resinous bitterness. The finish and aftertaste are very bitter. A decent IPA.

Hazy orange. Frothy head.
Phenolic aroma. Fresh silage and tangerine. Some burnt rubber.
Taste reflects the smell with extra fruitiness. Harsh bitter finish.
Soft carbonation. Above medium body. Rather oily. Overall = 3.5
Edit Jan 2024 - The detrimental smell, taste and feel are muted when tried on cask and the scores have improved and been changed.

Coming in a 500ml brown bottle, not bottle-conditioned; BB 06/2014, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.

A: pours a bright reddish amber colour with great clarity, light carbonation, and a thin off-white foamy head to last.
S: the aroma is more candy-ish malty than hoppy, featuring fresh apple fragrance, while a swirl gives rise to sweet peachy as well as mixed tropical fruitiness, light caramel and nutty malts. Not particularly fresh is the hoppiness, but at 5.6%abv. one would expect a more weighty impression as it is showing in front of me.
T: richly malty and quite sweet or syrupy, as if influenced by pasteurisation, with light sultana-ish fruitiness lagging behind along with caramelised apples, sweet citrus, and bits and bobs of undiscernible flavour elements; finishing lightly spicy and pretty flat-textured bitter with a lingering dry-ish palate.
M&O: lightly carbonated, medium-plus bodied, the flavour could’ve been better but I strongly suspect the pasteurisation disturbs the balance and the overall enjoyment. The back label says this is a “multi award winning beer”, surely not in the present form in which I’m having it…

Lively pale gold with clingy fluffy white head that rings.
Blossom and stewed orange on the nose but also sticky resiny buds.
Apricot compote and almond biscotti then searing mandarin oil, rosin, white grapefruit and pine needle hops.
Lemon peel finish and burning horseradish finish that gets fruitier as it warms.
Fizzy, some chew, lt-med.

Unique nose - big tension between dank and floral. And that carries over to the taste, which is not so much balanced as a push-pull between IBUs, oil, and aroma. However you look at it, it's a total bomb, with loads of citrus oil, that hits ways harder than 5.6%. A bit too thin and fizzy, but the oil makes it sit on the palate and compensates for that.

Summit unchained. Possibly the biggest British IPA.

Thank you Megan!

The beer is golden with a small white head. The aroma brings tangy citrus, pine, bready malts. really nicely done. The flavor is elegantly balanced. Light in body with a crisp and clean aftertaste. Grapefruit and orange followed by biscuits and pine. Moderate carbonation. Highly drinkable. A very good example of an English IPA.

Dark amber with a thin white head. Creamy toffee malt, floral and fruity hops. Floral aromatic hops, very creamy malts and a nice light toffee taste.

Moderate carbonation, slightly thick. A great beer; easy to drink, but at 5.6% not quite a session beer.
