Black that goes ruby in light with pitted sepia froth.
Char, baker's chocolate, and, yes, fresh oatmeal cookies on the nose.
Espresso, bilberry, and ash with a tannic hit and blackberry, tea and wood hops.
Coffee hard candy finish and bitter linger.
Medium, soft, oily, chewy.

Not as smooth as you'd expect. Also has more burnt roast than usual. These plus big IBUs and tart berry notes make this pretty astringent for an oatmeal stout.

Purchased at Tesco's in Ikley at traditional oatmeal stout.

Described by the brewery as:

A full bodied oatmeal stout brewed with a blend of maris otter, roast, crystal and chocolate malts with wheat and oatmeal. The flavours are enhanced by the addition of Galena and Bramling cross hops to produce a rich and creamy ale with a strong bitter finish with blackcurrant and coffee flavours."Silver medal winner at the SIBA Northern region beer competition 2011"

A: near opaque, deep dark color, with slight reddish hues, nice head
S: mild to medium, full roasted with deep malt
T: very nice for ABV, roasted malt, dreamy, hazelnut
M: very good
