July 2003: (500 ml bottle). Classic Czech pilsener, light golden colour. Moderate Saaz aroma, clean flavour, good bitterness. A good pils! - no more, no less.

Pours a deep golden colour, certainly in the range of "jasne pivo", and still golden yellow, but so deeply coloured as to verging towards bronze. Head is a wonderfully frothy affair of white bubbling, that dissipates after a while to a slight film that still retains its ability to lace the glass like crazy. It's a really good looking Czech pils.

Nose is balanced between this odd grain sweetness that reminds me of brown bread, and a sharp crisp hop character that doesn't quite manage to bite its way through. The sweetness wins out, and it's a shame.

Taste is crisper, at least, with a twang of metallic hops that is so classically Czech that just that little reminder takes me right back to when I was in the Czech Republic. It's a clean bitterness through the centre of the palate, mixed with more of that grainy sweetness -- together it's very classic, and makes me think I should have bought this beer at the corner store for 10 koruna.

It's a nice Czech pils, while still being a pretty generic one. While they do have a knack for belting out a good exemplar of this style, they rarely push the envelope, so they all end up pretty generic. But it's still good.

A light gold beer that has a white foam that recedes rather quickly, leaving very little lacing.

The smell is rather fresh, some citric notes and some malt.

The taste is rather pleasant and well balanced but nothing in particular stands out.

The carbonation is a good, and in general it should work very well as a standard lager with fast food etc.

A: Pale golden with a white head that leaves some small lacings. But it "dies" a bit to fast.

S: This beer smells very refreshing, some citric notes, some floral hops and some malt.

T: Fruity (most citrus) and some faint floral hops, but the maltyness is what this beer is all about.

M: A bit to light for my taste, some carbonic acids.

D: This is a beer that's really worth it's prize - about two dollars for 50 cl. In Sweden you get almost only crappy beer for that prize...

The colour is pale golden yellow. The large white foam is built of small bubbles that forms a compact head.

The mild smell is fresh with a good measure of bitter hops and some malt.

The carbonation is quite mild with tiny bubbles that boost the taste.

The taste is simple but well done, fruity with a powerful body of malt. The aftertaste is loaded with lots of malt and a somewhat sweet bitterness.

A very well crafted lager beer with some hints of Pilsner!
