Le Brewery "Norman Gold"
25.36 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, corked & caged. No apparent freshness dating.
$3.99 @ Wegmans, King of Prussia, PA
Appearance: Surprisingly amber color; hazy, and with sediment... bottle conditioned? The full head drops quickly to a creamy cap of white but still leaves some nice lacing.
Aroma: Wonderful floral aroma backed by malt and delicate citrus. Fruity.
Flavor: More agressive in the flavor, and with a solid bitterness. Fruity, floral, grassy/straw-like, and citrusy. Slightly yeasty in a good way. Rustic. Balanced, nicely rounded, and fairly well polished but with "real ale" character. Nicely done.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a fine-bubbled, moderate carbonation level. Gently bristling and then creamy-smooth across the tongue.
Overall: A charming and surprisingly unique beer that's sure to grow on you, and given the price that shouldn't be a problem!

Poured out a cloudy, golden yellow with a small, thin white head. Smelled of grassy hops and toasted caramel. Very sweet and grassy. Oddly phenolic and bitter.

clear light amber color with a small, creamy head on top. Nice lacing.
Honey in the aroma with a touch of light fruit and cereal grain mixes in.
medium body, creamy with light carbonation. Honey flavor with some lemon notes, white grape and a mild bitter finish. lingering honey when gone.

I love that I wasn't able to find anything from this brewery while in France but found it in PA recently.
As the label states, this is a golden ale. Somehow that seems to fit more than blonde. Interesting floral nose on this. A bit of orange on there also, I think. Flavor is quite thick and robust with an earthy and inky thing going on. Nice hop spice too - I believe this is a single hopped beer with Cascade only. Smooth feel. Easy to drink. Nose food beer. Well executed and well worth a try. Too bad more blonde/golden ales aren't like this.
