Served in a pint glass a the restaurant.
Appearance- A nice very deep brown color with a off white head that was present upon serving. The head was very persistent lasting quite some time before giving way to a bit of lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell- Sweet chocolate and oaty heartiness meet the nose, almost as though oatmeal was mixed with a chocolate bar. A bit of vanilla is also present, with some caramel malt aroma that works it way in toward the end rounding out the smell experience quite nicely.
Taste – A sweet chocolate and coffee flavor first hit the tounge. A breadiness/oatiness mixed with a bit of carmel flavor then comes in mixies with the chocolate taste quite nicely. A very balanced stout.
Mouthfeel – A nice creamy thick brew for only 6% abv. The nitrogen driven body with its smooth malty flavor coated the pallet and made for a nice drinkable dark brew.
Overall – Very drinkable, flavorful and enjoyable. A drink to try and one I would recommend. I only wish it were available year round.
