First had: on tap at their brewpub

Sampler poured into a dainty mini stem glass, a hazy reddish-amber with just a small white ringlet for a head. Light aroma, caramel and indistinct fruit essence. Taste of caramel malts, toasted bread and grains, spicy yeast, and lesser notes of apricot and apple skins. Not really as flavorful as many of the better dubbels I've had, but still fairly decent. A little metallic twinge in the aftertaste. On the lighter side of medium-bodied, a bit lacking in the mouthfeel department. Overall, not bad, but there's plenty of room for improvement.

Not a bad Dubble, Drinkable. However it was under carbonated for the style.

Served in a 10 oz chalice glass

Appearance – Pours a hazy golden color with a fairly decent head upon serving. The head fades giving a moderate level of lacing.

Smell – Nice aromas of some sweeter fruit are mixed with a good yeast smell. The sweeter aromas are mainly caramel and fruit in nature, with banana, mango, and a bit of darker fruit (cherry and prune). There is also a bit of breadiness that comes to the aroma. While not the most potent in smell overall, the combination and blend creates an overall very nice aroma.

Taste – The taste is sweet of fruit in the start. Cherry and some nice tropical fruit flavors are most prevalent. These mix with a wonderful bready backbone mixed with stronger caramel flavors and a bit of spice flavor. Toward the end, some more yeasty flavors begin to develop. While the yeast taste stays relatively light, they provide a very nice blend to the sweeter flavors.

Mouthfeel – The body is above moderate with a rather moderate level of carbonation. With its slightly thicker body and its lower carbonation the brew seems to sit on the tongue a bit longer than the average beer and allows those nice flavors to permeate the tastebuds. Overall the mouthfeel is quite nice and appropriate for the brews characteristics.

Overall – This was quite an enjoyable beer to drink. The sweeter nature of the taste (composed of many different but complementary flavor) as well as the very palatable mouthfeel create a very nice dubbel. One I would have again and again.
