This beer pours dark mahogany has a one finger head with average retention and moderate lacing. The aroma was of roasted malt with some mild caramel in the background. The taste is of caramel, roasted malt and coffee. It had a dry bitter hop finish and is very crisp and drinkable with a thin body.
Reflection: This was my first beer from Madison Brewing and it made me want to try all of them.

Pours dark brown, looks like something that came out of my 30 year old trumpet one day when I actually cleaned it. Ick. Caramel notes in the color. No head, no carbonation, flat. Smells of bitter alcohol with some malts in the back. Taste is dominated by wateriness, alcohol, and a little bit of malts that does not help the beer out much at all. It's put best as a bitter, sour soda that's gone flat. The description mentions chocolate notes, but I did not notice any of them here. Maybe it was a bad batch?
