Standard look for an APA, hazy golden-amber color with a half inch or so of white head that receded to a ringlet, lacing the glass slightly. Light nose of floral and citrusy hops. More floral/citrus hops with some piney notes coming through, biscuity malt base, with an uncomfortable soapy taste throughout the session that kind of ruined it for me. Light-medium body, decent mouthfeel. Not bad overall, but the flavor definitely seemed off.

Pours a deep amber color with a decent head and retention. Finally some hops. Smells of citrus and grapefruit with a bit of an earthy undercurrent. Taste is citrus, bread, earth. Well balanced pale ale with a decent taste. Thinnish body with a bitter resinous mouthfeel and a watery mouthfeel. Decent pale

This beer pours an orange-gold color with half inch thick head. the lacing lasted through most of the pint. It's aroma consisted of citrus, pine, and yeast notes. The flavor was of grapefruit with hints of biscuits and honey. It leaves a mildly bitter aftertaste but is well balanced. Crowtown Ale has a medium, creamy feel over the palate and is drinkable enough to have two or three. This was a perfect pairing for the Pub Fries at Madison's brewpub in Bennington Vermont. Recommended!

Sampled over dinner at their restaurant. Pint was delivered to me an appealing orange/amber color with an off white head one finger thick. Moderate retention and good lacing throughout the sample. Delicious floral and citrus hops aroma with some deeper resin/pine notes. Flavors were equally hop forward but not so much as to lean towards an IPA followed by a malted middle and a crisp finish. Nutty aftertaste appears as the beer warmed up. Appropriately bitter with a bit of a nip at the end. Smooth and very drinkable. Though I could not call this beer complex I do classify it as a fine example of the style and well worth a pint of time.

Sampled from the brewery when I drove through Bennington. Somewhat amberish appearance with a wicked good head that really lasted for a bit. Typical citrus flavors but definitely some good punches of fruit and malty hops. The taste was good but all over the place. Usual fruit flavors but some good touches of caramel excels it beyond normal dimensions. Good hoppy texture. Good mouthfeel with decent crispness. Nothing too overpowering for a pale ale, making it very appetizing. Overall, great pale ale.

This is a pint of Crowtown Ale served at Madison Brewing Co. in Bennington, VT.

Appearance: The ale has a hazy golden color that borders on an orange. There is a good head that lingers for a bit.

Smell: The hops lend this ale a refreshingly simple aroma that is mostly floral.

Taste: The hops make a statement on the first sip. They are big and bold (but not too bold) and leave a very clean finish. The flavor itself is part floral pine and part dirty noble hop.

Mouthfeel: The ale is crisp and clean on the palate.

Drinkability: This is a strong offering from Madison and one worth having again.

A: Poured a cloudy or hazy copper with reddish hues. One finger white foamy frothy head that left lots of lace.

S: Hoppy and fruity aromas with a bit of pine that follows.

T: Tastes of pine hops, but not overwhelming--could use more. Also some citrus fruit in there too with a tad of malt underneath.

M & D: Mouthfeel is nice. Very smooth beer with a good amount of carbonation. Drinkability is high as it goes down smoothly and is an easy drinking beer. Reminded me of a dull 60 minute ipa.
