A traditionally styled festbier with rich malt notes and a touch of Saaz and Hallertau hops.

I am usually disappointed by Octobeerfests/Marzens so I avoid them but I hadn’t had one here yet so decided to give it a try. Glad that I did! It is smooth and tasty!

Poured from tap into a pint glass at brewery in Bennington. Pours golden brown with a fingers worth of head that rapidly recedes with a bit of retention. Tastes of subtle burnt caramel notes with bready characteristics. Advertised as a "Festbier" which seems consistent with the style. Good.

First had: on tap at the brewpub

Clear mahogany-brown pour with a small off-white head that receded to an almost non-existent ringlet. Aroma was extremely subdued, almost non-existent as well, mild notes of sweet malts. Malty taste, over-ripe fruit, and something really weird and off throughout the session; I can only really describe it as "cheesy." Hmm. Light-medium body, pretty smooth mouthfeel, drinkable enough in that regard, but not really otherwise. I'd pass on this one if offered it again.

A proper amber, with a thinnish head.

A very fruity nose leads to a malty, fruity taste, almost an ale-like fruitiness althoiugh they claim it's a lager. This brew also has a hint of the earthiness that was present in the Olde 76 Strong Ale - it works pretty well in a Fest, with the earthy flavors balancing out the fruitiness. Hint of noble hop somewhere way in the background. Finish is slightly bitter, but the malty/fruity aspect wins out. A decent Ofest.
