Copenhagen 20/1 2021. 33 cl bottle from Irma, Smedetoften, Kbh. NV. Light blue label with a old tree standing in front of a tranquil sea.

Pours unclear - almost hazy - golden yellow with a big white head. Stable. Settles beautifully as a 1 cm thick blanket of foam covering the surface of the beer. Massive lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a light sweet odor mingling with citric fumes and earthy yeasty notes. Citrus and lemon. Humid cellar and sour milk. Horse blanket.

Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lively and tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a light sweetness followed by a strong tart sourness. Aftertaste is sour and acerbic. Lingers for a bit. Finish is dry like sour wine.

Very sour and with a notable funky touch.

A 500ml can with a BB of Dec 2017, so it's slightly out of date. Acquired a little while back from a webshop. Brewed at the de Proef brewery in Belgium. The label calls it a brett IPA and states that this is a sourmashed beer fermented with brettanomyces and dry-hopped with Sorachi Ace.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. A deep, hazy orange-amber hue with fine suspended sediment and moderate carbonation. Yields a huge head of fluffy white foam that hangs around for a few minutes before subsiding to a persistent surface layer. Some lacing.

S: Aroma of sharp lactic sourness with hints of lemon, subtle citrus zest, berries, earthiness, mild brett funk, hay, vague grainy malt, a touch of herbal character and faint stewed leaves. Understated hop presence but pretty good complexity.

T: Tastes of lactic sourness with notes of lemon rind, mild citrus, tart fruitiness, berries, earthiness, bretty funk, mustiness, subtle blue cheese, hay, faint grain and a hint of leafiness in the background. Bone-dry, with little bitterness to speak of.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and very dry, with soft carbonation and great body for the style. Suits the sourness and strength perfectly. Quite astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of lemony sourness, tart fruity notes, brettanomyces funk, mould, earthiness and hay.

O: Rather good, though for an IPA the hop profile is quite subdued. Perhaps that's the result of age - I'm not sure when this was canned. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are an elaborate blend of funky sourness, citrus notes, tart fruit/berries, mustiness, earthiness and faint grain. Excellent mouthfeel; smooth and lightly textured. Very dry but goes down nicely. Worth sampling if you like sour beers or brett.

Quite hazy light amber color with rocky off-white head. Aroma has the specific light buttery Sorachi Ace component, lactic tartness and fermented fruits. Taste starts tart, lemony, that weird Sorachi note again, hoppy, herbal, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium body, quite soft mouthfeel for a sour ale. Another great addition to the sour hop series.

I really love this style. This is definitely a nice clean beer, but the flavours are not as intense as i would have hoped. I really like the sur series for to øl as well this was is good but not there best imo. I'm relatively new to the sorachi ace hops as well. this is a nice crispy refreshing beer with a bit of funk definitly worth a try.

500 ml can into tulip glass, best before 12/6/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, lime, peach, pear, melon, red apple, white grape, citrus peel, peppercorn, dill, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, melon, red apple, white grape, citrus peel, peppercorn, dill, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine/herbal/citrus peel bitterness, yeast spiciness, and lactic tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, melon, red apple, white grape, citrus peel, peppercorn, dill, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/tart/bitter/spiciness balance; and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tart/bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and acidic/sticky/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Light resins near the end of the glass. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a very nice Brett IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink; despite the increasing bitter/spicy/drying finish. Very unique Brett profile, in combination with the Sorachi Ace. A lot of orchard fruits, along with the expected lemon/lime notes. Just a bit too bitter/drying overall, but very enjoyable.

The nose is simply great and exactly what I desired a fruity hoppiness with some spice and a hay rather than banyard arom from the brett yeast. Unfortunately the taste didn't bring it home for me. Beside the slight sourness I didn't get much else remarkable
