wild sour ale with chokeberries, cool beer from these guys, but i suppose they are all pretty cool. this thing is something else though, the chokeberries stain it deep pinkish red, and they give it a wonderful tartness thats astringent and sharp, but right on key with the souring yeasts in this one, a really cool two way go there, i think its fantastic. there is a juiciness to this, the fruit is more than just puckery, it has a fresh almost crispness about it, but certainly aids in the acidity of the beer as well. some wildness, bretty funky weirdness, but its not overly developed, and is far more bacterially soured to me. its clean from a yeast standpoint, tidy even, but the beer seems bigger and richer and sort of less refined overall to me because of the thickness and wheatiness of it, its heavy and filling and not as delicate as i think it could be if it were fully on form. that said, the chokeberries, which i think are the same as chokecherries, have me interested, and they seem more distinctive and brighter here than in any other beer i can recall that has featured them. a cool project, full of body and flavor and textural nuance. these guys are on a serious roll, and i cant get enough of their stuff right now!
