Made with our French friends in mind we took the common Christmas tastes: Cardamom, Orange Peel and Lemon Zest and added our favourites: Coriander and Lime Zest! Combined with the subtle restrained spice of a Belgian Blonde, the results were so good that we decided to name this seasonal treat what it was – Santastique!

Copenhagen 5/1 2019. 33 cl bottle from Brønshøj Vinhandel. Santastique in a very weird spelling on the label. This version seems to have an ABV of 4,7.
Pours pale almost neon yellow with medium-sized white head. Settles as thin but frothy layer of foam just managing to cover the surface of the beer. Clinging to the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma has a strong, insistent sweetness. Peach and melon. Sour, spicy odor rummaging in the background. Black pepper, coriander with acerbic citrus peeking in.
Light carbonation. Soft, creamy, lightly tingly texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by a slightly stronger citric bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and lemonade-ish with light sour undertones. A bit thin.
A quite fresh take on a Christmas Beer where the Christmas spices does not dominate.

As Easter is fast approaching, I though I should crack open another Christmas beer. A 500ml can with a BB of Aug 2018. ABV is stated as 5.5%. Acquired a little while back from a webshop. Described on the label as a hazy Belgian white ale with spices: coriander, cardamom, lemon, lime and orange zest.
A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Can-conditioned. A rich, hazy amber colour with some floating sediment and moderate carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.
S: Aroma of subtle spice with hints of coriander, mild orange peel, faint lemon zest, a twinge of cardamom, earthy yeast, fruity esters and light grainy malt. Understated but balanced - pretty good.
T: Tastes of earthy Belgian yeast with notes of coriander, subtle orange peel, faint lemon zest, mild fruity esters, a whisper of cardamom, grainy malt and harsh stewed leaves/spice. Bone-dry, followed by a leafy, acrid bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and very dry, with lively carbonation and decent body. Highly astringent; dries the palate to excess. Aftertaste of harsh stewed leaves/spice, coriander, earthy yeast, grainy malt and faint citrus.
O: A decent effort, though not especially seasonal. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a blend of spice, earthy yeast and subtle malt. Body is alright but very dry. Too harsh on the finish. Not sure how this might have been better - possibly higher residual sugars to attenuate the spice a tad? Anyway, drinkable but not one to go out of your way for.

From Degustasur. Playing Bloo Kid 2. In Teku glass. Lots of ingredients, with lime standing out, that gives it an original, tasty and somehow christmaty profile. Not seems wit

On tap at Brewberry Bar in Paris, France. 12.5 cl poured in a tasting glass. Nice witbier, this ale shows some spices notes which are appreciated with Christmas coming. It also permits to balance the beer and reduce its acidity

A: The beer is hazy light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short bright white head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of lemon and orange citrus peel are present in the nose along with some hints of spices.
T: The taste follows the smell, but has stronger flavors of citrus peel, notes of spices, and hints of underlying wheat. The spices become stronger as the beer warms up.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This witbier is a little spicier compared to other beers in the style. It's a nice selection to drink during the holidays if you are looking for a lighter beer style.
