Copenhagen 14/12 2020. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh. Ø. Yellow label with white overlapping rectangles named fig. 01-07.
Pours opaque dark brown with a mid-sized beige head. Settles as thin patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, lactic odor with mild notes of dark alcohol. Caramel, toffee and lactose. A bit of nuts. Cognac and Baileys liqueur.
Light carbonation. Thin, watery, tingling texture.
Flavor is moderately intense and a little thin. Medium sweetness followed by a light bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a salty-sour undercurrent. Finish is sweet with a light touch of dark alcohol.
Light and quite thin - but with a decent touch of cognac.

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of roasted malt and light chocolate and coffee notes, as well as just a hint of earthy oak. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of roasted malt, light chocolate and coffee, as well as just a hint of spicy and fruity Cognac accents and earthy oak. Finishes with a rather dry, with a light bitterness and some roasted malt, chocolate and coffee lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation.
I think that for a Session beer at 4.1%, this is absolutely terrific, with a decent body and mouthfeel for the ABV and some rather nice chocolate and lighter coffee notes, with the Cognac chips leaving a fleeting impression as well. It's got a great, roasted, dry and lightly bitter character to it, with very little sweetness coming through and the lactose thankfully remaining very much in the background as well, making this almost feel like more of a Porter than a Milk Stout. While I didn't really know what to think of a "barrel-aged" Session Stout before trying this, I was very pleasantly surprised by this. Of course it doesn't compare to a full-strength Stout, but for its ABV, it really is a terrific beer with a great balance and subtle barrel character.
