Tasted at the Conrad hotel in Cairo. Poured from a 500 ml bottle.
The beer pours a golden amber color with minimal head retention and not very impressive lacing. In fact, 30 seconds after a hard pour, there was no head to speak of. On the nose I'm picking up next to nothing. Maybe there's a hint of light sweet malt and corn, but that's it. This beer has "I suck" written all over it. The flavor profile is light and watery, with virtually no bitterness on the finish. It otherwise seems to replicate the nose. Mouthfeel is light and watery, with a pretty dramatic flavor drop off in the finish. Alcohol is virtually unnoticeable, as you would expect at 4% abv.
So a couple of thoughts. It gets pretty warm in Egypt, so no surprise that light, low flavor lagers like this are going to be fairly prevalent I guess. It's not a beer I'll ever order again, but I guess I can understand why it might be popular with the locals. Its a cheap, easy drinking lawnmower beer, suitable for uncritical quaffing on a warm day. Macro swill by anyone's definition.
