500ml can, day 12 of the Costco Canada 2014 Beer Advent calendar. These guys seem to have a few pilseners, all with the same ABV - hmmmm.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with two chubby fingers of puffy, silken, and somewhat fizzy bone-white head, which leaves some decent sudsy tree branch lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of bready, doughy pale malt, edgy yeast, a touch of paint thinner, boozy apple mush, and earthy, weedy, and dead grassy hops. The taste is gritty, grainy pale malt, wet breakfast biscuits, a still more acetone-like astringency, when all I was expecting was some simple gasohol, muddled stale drupe fruit, and tame weedy, springtime moldy leaves, and wet hay hop esters.

The carbonation is quite light on its feet, and takes advantage of that as soon as it can, the body a so-so medium weight, and rather clammy in its laughable attempt at smoothness. It finishes off-dry, that creepily sugary nail polish remover essence almost overpowering the lingering doughy malt.

Yeah, certainly the worst so far of these taste-alike offerings in this dumbed-down Advent calendar - at least the rest have been plainly drinkable, but this one is begging me to drop the hammer and introduce it to the concept of a swirlie.
