Looks fantastic, cloudy with a nice foam. Foam stands only for a minute. Taste is extraordinary and not what you expect from a discount store. Malt dominates the taste, though hops are not unimportant

head all but gone within 10 seconds. Pretty ruby-amber shade; a bit hazy. Taste of dried apricot, fruitcake, nutmeg, cinnamon, cognac, coffee, molasses. Pleasing, ever so slight tangy finish. A beer for a winter evening inside.

330ml bottle, poured into La Chouffe tulip.
A: Jet black, with a touch of ruby at the side, opaque, large thick tanned head, moderate retention, some lacing, film clung to the side of the glass.
S: Wood, Bourbon and a whack of goat’s cheese aka diacetyl.
T: Followed the nose, but had hints of dark chocolate, caramel and wasn’t as boozy or diacetyl fueled.
M: Thick chewy texture, moderate carbonation, smooth.
O: Not a bad effort, will be good with a heavy Christmas meal.
