Copenhagen 5/12 2018. 50 cl can from Lidl. Comic-like drawing of Adventurous lady with a High Hat surrounded by Engineering Stuff. Tagline is Let's Oil the Gears of Life.
Pours clear, dark amber with fairly small white head. Settles as thin, flimsy layer of foam. Unable to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is rather weak. Sweetish with a little caramel, sugar and something that smells a bit of old-fashioned deodorant.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily texture. Gets flat pretty fast.
Flavor is quite sweet followed by moderate sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a tang of something burnt. Lingers shortly.
Not a very convincing take on a Dunkel Bock.

This is a dangerous beer. Boasting 7.9% this beer goes down suspiciously smooth. It felt like I had a creamy Guinness with only the smallest hint of an alcoholic aftertaste to let me know this was packing a punch. No notes stood out to me, and really the ease with which it went down did a lot of the heavy lifting. For me, this isn't a beer I'm sipping on because I love the flavors, nor is this something I'll rock all night. This is a good 'I want one beer to warm me up' beer. Would drink again.

Chestnut colour, clear. White foam, composed of small bubbles, high and persistent. It reluctantly coats the glass.
Aroma very delicate, almost absent, but: there is a malty, earthy, perhaps spicy and gently roasted note. The frenzy is not there.
Taste bitter. Here the earthiness and roasted notes are even more pronounced.
Alcohol well hidden. Medium saturation. Body high. Texture smooth, round. Aftertaste medium-long, dry.

Far too sweet -- not enough bitterness to balance out; taste is too much alcohol (it is almost 8%). Can't recommend.

.5L can, purchased at Lidl in Toulouse, France. Best by 9/26/2024. (+1 for cool can art!) Poured well chilled into a snifter. Fine white cap forms atop an amber red brew.
Nose is caramel malt and a prevalent sweetness. Little bit of plum on the perimeter.
Once the bold malt intro backs off, there’s a cerealy sweetness, then a void. No hop glory to elevate the profile. There is an alcohol nip, a tinniness, and syrup residue that rides above a semi-dry finish. The sweet syrup reveals itself more as the beer warms, killing any comparison to classic bock brews.
Full mouthfeel is pushed by medium carbonation.
Overall, this is an OK attempt at a dopple bock at a reasonable price, but the heaviness keeps it from being crushable.

Randomly purchased this off a supermarket shelf in Medellin, Colombia. Not your typical German bock in that it's not super sweet. I will say it is significantly better when it warms a bit. That's when the malt characteristics come forward and they're tasty. At 7.9 percent it's quite drinkable. I might grab another for later.

This is a very good beer - as a matter of fact, all of these Steam Brew series are very nice (haven’t had the stout yet but I guess I have to after all…)
First sip was an AMAZING malty, almost bourbon-like. Loved it, especially with the 7.9% ABV. Then it warms up and becomes a bit more what it really is, a bock, although quite a German bock because of the amount of carbonation. I love bocks btw, sometimes they can be a tad bit overwhelming but this one couldn’t be further from that. Very easy drinking, malty but not sweet, not bitter, just right. Makes you feel it is kind of light and you end up chucking it, and then the ABV says hello. A very nice beer, once again. Might be a repeater.

500 ml can, from Lidl Hjørring. ABV is 7.9%. Beautiful and clear reddish brown colour, moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Aroma of malts, dust and caramel. Flavour of malts, caramel and brown bread, no noticeable hops. Not too sweet though. Thin body for its strength. Boring.

Very reasonably priced from Lidl. Great beer for the Autumn and Winter, but come Spring and Summer the Imperial IPA is a better choice.

Cerveza de color ámbar con una leve espuma de retención media. Ligera y de carbonatación media. Aroma a malta y algo de caramelo. De sabor dulce con un ligero amargor en el final.
