Very reasonably priced from Lidl. Great beer for the Autumn and Winter, but come Spring and Summer the Imperial IPA is a better choice.

Cerveza de color ámbar con una leve espuma de retención media. Ligera y de carbonatación media. Aroma a malta y algo de caramelo. De sabor dulce con un ligero amargor en el final.

I’m quite impressed with this line of beers from Eichbaum. I think the Imperial IPA is fantastic, and better than this, but this is great as well, and inexpensive. It’s a clear deep copper/chestnut brown in color beneath a full head of off-white foam. Both the head retention and the lacing could be better but they’re not bad. The aroma is clean, and expresses gently sweet and lightly caramelish malt. The flavor is malty and rich, but not too sweet at all. This is labeled as a bockbier and I’d agree with that. It also lists the original gravity as 16.5˚ Plato with 7.9% ABV and 23 IBUs. There’s not a lot of hop flavor to it, but nor should there be. If you seek it out though there’s some herbal and spicy hops there. It finishes semi-dry but not bittersweet, just malty with a light bitterness fading. In the mouth it’s malty and smooth with a medium to medium-full body and a fine-bubbled median carbonation. For the price these Steam Beers are a great deal - but don’t forget the ,25€ deposit on the can.

Pours a clear, deep mahogany coloration with a medium, frothy head and slightly visible carbonation. Smells of quite grainy, caramel malt and hints of dark fruit and herbal hops. Taste is a decent balance of sweet, toasted, grainy, caramel malt and lighter, bitter, herbal hops, as well as hints of toffee and dark fruit, with notes of raisin and date. Finishes bittersweet, with a medium bitterness and some sweet malts and herbal hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

First off, while you would naturally expect a Red Ale from this, it's actually supposed to be a (Doppel)Bock according to their website. Much like their Imperial IPA, it's actually okay, far from great but okay for the price. However, unlike a great DIPA, which will cost you about 8 times as much, you can buy an excellent Doppelbock for less than twice the price of this. Seriously, why would I ever wanna buy this again if I can buy an Andechser Doppelbock for just 0.50 cents more? The value-for-money aspect of this just gets obliterated by trying to emulate a traditional German beer instead of a craft beer, which defeats the entire purpose of this brand. While the bitter, herbal accents just about manage a decent balance here overall, with very subtle toffee and dark fruit notes adding a little character, it's still just a bit too syrupy sweet and boozy, with a very slight artificial undertone as well.

Bought at my local Lidl in a 0,5L can. I remember I had another of the three brews they have on offer once in a while and not being impressed. Not enough to review it anyway.

Served in my trusty "Seef".
Beer has a deep reddish brown colour with a nice beige head dat persists for quite a while.
So far so good I was thinking... And then we placed the glass in proximity of the nose. A rather nice roasted and sirupy smell mixed with something oxidized and chemical. Reminiscent of detergents; only mixed with grilled ribbs and fruits.
The flavour opens with the malts, giving a clean sweet smoked flavour. The smoked element dissapears and the flavour becomes overall more sweeter. Luckily the "chemical" elements in the odour does not persist as much in the flavour. The fruits resemble white grapes and melon. Earthy notes from white bread, and pepper. The syrup element is less pleasant. Alcohol is noticable.
The aftertaste is much drier, seems the hopps finally kick in.

Not as bad as projected by my fellow BA's.

I am beginning to think that German red means dopplebock.

Can. Malty. Toffee, caramel, toasted malts, dark dried fruits, caramel, apple skins, and bread. Medium bodied. Solid bock for 1.5€ in Slovenia.

Pours a reddish color with white head. Taste is meh and smell is meh as well. Fine for a night out and better than Budweiser, but not what I’d expect for something craft..

It's drinkable. Probably goes better with a rich meal. Not too much on its own.

I purchased this beer on a whim, having never heard of the brewery or beer. I wish that were still the case. Opening the can, I caught an aroma of chemically sweet liquid. The pour was not impressive, and has a brown-copper look. The taste matched the aroma, and the mouthful wasn't any better.

This was dissapoyfor a German beer.
