Copenhagen 5/9 2020. 50 cl bottle from Lidl, Lygten, Kbh. NV. Crowded classic label with a Monk enjoying a mug of weissbier, a lot of gold and a obscure signature from a Braumeister. Fine little bottle with a P for Patronus printed in the glass.
Pours an unhealthy shade of orange with a big white head. Looks like there could be some urinary tract infection involved. Settles as thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a fairly strong sweet lemonade-ish odor with lightly sourish citric notes. Oranges, citrus. White sugar.
Light carbonation. Thin, oily, soft, silken, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a moderate sourness. Aftertaste is sweet and lingers for a bit. Sweetish and semi-dry finish.
Decent Weissbier. Not making much of a fuss. But easy to drink and refreshing.

500 ml brown glass bottle coded "18.07.25. L1814 22" and sampled on 20.11.24
Notes via stream of consciousness: Even with a rough pour its hazy golden-orange body is capped by not much more than a finger's width of white foam. The aroma is yeasty, bready, fruity with banana and apple, and lightly phenolic and spicy with some plastic and clove. It's a decent aroma but not the brightest I've encountered, and certainly not the best in terms of polish as there are a few odd notes out there that need to be tucked into the mix. On the other hand I've had weissbiers that were overly yeasty, overly acidic, and even harsh in the aroma with unusual medicinal phenolics that detracted from it so this is far better than that; it's just not top tier. The flavor follows and I actually like the banana bread flavor that it's delivering quite a bit. There are some outside elements of fermentation that I found in the aroma aren't the greatest, but again, they're not the worst. It's nicely balanced between sweet and wheaty malt, yeasty acidity, and yeasty phenolics & spiciness. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp but certainly not as carbonated as most examples of the style. To put this up against every other hefeweisen / weissbier on a scale of 1 to 10 it scores it about a 7 and maybe an 8. It's just not that balanced, rounded, or polished. Having said that, and taking into account that it's a lower price point beer, it's a fairly good deal. The question is how much do you like the style, and how much does it really mean to you? I'm a super fan and I've traveled throughout Germany sampling as many examples as I could find so this is not for me. If, however, it was a similar level something-other-beer (brown ale, spiced ale, dark lager, light lager, pale ale) that I don't care for that much and was just going to drink before, during, and after a football match it would be just grand.
