Pours a deep amber, with moderate tawny colored foam that leaves generous lacing. Smell is sweet malt with a hint of caramel. Flavor is very smooth, malt and caramel throughout, with a little alcohol coming on mid-taste and a touch of hoppy bitterness in the finish. Combination of the alcohol and moderate carbonation also provides a surprising amount of body. Overall, this is a pleasant beer to drink with a little more alcohol and a little less hops than usually for the style. True to style, but not nationality, the flavor holds up well on the way to room temperature.

Notes via stream of consciousness: Wow, this is 7.3% ABV. That's no Nürnberger rotbier! It's brown with golden and orange highlights when held to the light. The head is a thick thumb's width of densely creamy khaki colored foam. The aroma suggests sweet, medium dark caramel and dried dark skinned fruits. The taste follows. It's sweetish, caramelish, softly fruity, bready like dark bread, and lightly spicy and subtly herbal. The alcohol has an edgy presence but it's not distracting. There's also some background roastiness which is interesting. In the mouth it's medium-full in body and smooth ith a fine bubbled, moderate carbonation. Golden caramel lingers in the sweetish finish along with a swirl of spiciness and background herbs. It's an interesting beer that's hard to categorize.

This one has a malty taste, not terrible but not good either. It's drinkable but not one I'd look for more of.
It has a bit of a rough feel going down, maybe the malt.

500ml can from the 2024 Biergarten Collection (Costco).
Appearance. Deep reddish-brown body with high clarity a good white head.
This German "Red Ale" has enough hops to produce mild bitterness but is more malty than hoppy. Relatively poor aroma but satisfactory flavor.

Can to standard pint glass. From the 2024 Costco Biergarten collection.
L: head is less than one finger in depth. Off-white, almost khaki cream color. Plenty of early lacing. Body of beer is a deep red/orange.
S: syrupy sweet malt. One dimensional.
T: again very syrupy sweet malt. Slight roasted notes.
F: medium bodied. Light carbonation.
O: it’s decent. Reminds me of some sweeter Irish red ales, maybe smithwicks in a way. Very straightforward beer.

From the half liter can in the 2024 Biergarten Collection from Costco, it pours a clear reddish brown color with a very nice off-white head that slowly reduces. The nose gets a sweet malt scent, followed by the mouth getting slightly sweet malty brew with notes of caramel. Slight possibly sour aftertaste.
