Hops are literally leaping out of this aggressive and magical deep golden brew. The aroma of Columbus, Crystal and Centennial hop varieties strikes you first with notes of evergreen and grapefruit before evolving into a snappy and sharp hop flavor. The finish is very dry and calls you back for more. Yes, there is some malt here too, but mainly in a supporting role. This is one for the hopheads. Cheers!

On tap at the Draft Station in Santa Fe, NM. Reviewed from notes dated June 21, 2015.
A-The beer looks the part with a short white head that leaves some good lacing on the glass as I drink. It is orange in color and nearly clear (just a chill haze). Some chunky carbonation supports the head for a while.
S-The aroma is pretty mundane. Some toasty malts, a vague bitterness and a little bit of orange and dried grass are all I can sniff.
T-The taste is a little more exciting with some caramel malt, toast, spruce and pine bitterness, light grapefruit, and orange zest happening. The beer is semi-sweet for the style and ABV.
M-The body is medium in heft with a moderate amount of fine, smooth carbonation.
O-This beer left me a bit underwhelmed. Perhaps the keg was old or the lines dirty or something, but I just couldn't sniff or taste much in the way of hops here. For a beer calling itself an IPA, I dunno...there are better options.

On tap at the brewpub, 6/1/13.
A-Pour is a crystal clear golden amber with about an inch of foamy white head and some nice lacing.
S-Very nice aroma. Heavy on the citrus, mostly grapefruit with a bit of pineapple.
T-Quite a tasty beverage. Well balanced with a respectable malt base but still West Coast in style. A nice smooth lingering bitterness throughout, again heavy on the grapefruit.
M-Nicely carbonated, very pleasant.
O-First full beer of our vacation and started us off right. A very high quality IPA I would drink anytime.

Draft service into a nonic glass at Chama River brewpub in Albuquerque.
7.2% abv according to the menu
A: Clear, light amber color with less than one finger of diminishing white foam head. Fine moderate lacing remains on the glass.
S: Tropical fruit is thick and ripe, suggesting premium hops. Floral qualities are also present, providing a more delicate understory layer. The hops define the smell but their intensity could be increased a bit.
T: Begins almost dry, with toasted malt and hop aromatics of sticky fruit (grapefruit flesh as well as the tropical array suggested by the smell), resinous pine, and herbal spice. Bitterness builds in the middle as most flavors recede, leaving some floral hops and a late acidic burst. The finish is totally dry and clean, moderately bitter, and gently herbaceous.
M: Thin to medium viscosity, slightly resinous and acidic on the palate, with moderate carbonation.
D/O: A compelling IPA that is hard to put down or criticize. Less sweet than Marble IPA, this IPA arguably stands a solid notch above that other beer. Most brewpubs should wish that their IPA was this solid.
